How many times did you wonder: What would I visit if I would go to Paris? Just thinking about it makes you travel… Can you imagine yourself? You flâne in the Parisian streets, window shopping and eating a piece of cheese (well, that is a dream and in this dream walking while eating cheese is absolutely fine). How nice would that be? To make your dream realistic (and to prepare your real upcoming holiday to France 🙂), let me list here the most famous places you need to visit while in Paris if it is your first time there.

Eiffel Tower

When one thinks about Paris, one sure thinks about the Eiffel Tower, as it is undoubtedly one of the most famous monuments in the world. If you are in Paris for the first time and had only one thing to see and to visit, it is definitely the Eiffel Tower, France’s national emblem! You will probably take pictures of it, but what you should also do is to take pictures from it. If you don’t feel dizzy, you can even reach the top, where the view is fantastic! Paris at your feet!

Did you know that there was a very fancy restaurant inside the Eiffel Tower? The name of the restaurant is Le Jules Verne and it has one star in the Michelin Guide. Minimum price for a 5-course dinner : €190 Very pricey, but it should be on your bucket list! At least it is on mine 🙂

Les Champs-Elysées and l’Arc de Triomphe

Les Champs-Élysées is one of the most prestigious avenue in the world: all brands want to be there, so do all fashionistas! This avenue is 2 km long, from Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe. In France, when a big happy event happens, like winning the football world cup for instance, or when French people have something to say in a demonstration, this is where people gather to show their joy or to express their despair.

L’arc de Triomphe can be visited: You can actually go up and from the top, you can see the most beautiful avenue of the world (as we call it in France).

Montmartre and le Sacré Coeur

What a lovely neighborhood! Montmartre is made of small streets and stairs, cafés and small restaurants, artists, and tourists. It really has a particularly romantic atmosphere. I advise you to wander around and to stop wherever you please without any plan. That way, you will feel the spirit of this special place. Up on the hill, you will find the Sacré-coeur. You can visit the basilica, from where you will find an amazing view on Paris.

Le Louvre

Who has not heard about Le Louvre, home of La Joconde or Mona Lisa in English, the Venus de Milo or the painting Liberty Leading the People? The most precious pieces of art are in Le Louvre. Whether you are touched by art or not, you can’t go to Paris without visiting this museum. Did you know that you could visit it online ? Notre-Dame de Paris

Notre-Dame de Paris is the most legendary cathedral of Paris, even Victor Hugo dedicated a book to it, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. It also inspired a musical: Notre-Dame de Paris. More than two centuries were necessary to build this majestic monument. No wonder many tourists are rushing there to visit it: around 14 million people visit it every year.

Le Château de Versailles

The Palace of Versailles really is a marvel. A little outside Paris (easily reachable by train), the king’s home is particularly famous for its Halls of Mirrors and also for its gardens. This palace represents French history at its best: This monument has been the scene of lavish parties with the Kings of France, as well as the scene of the French Revolution.

I hope that this itinerary will help you during your trip to Paris in order to know what to visit. Please share this article if you found it interesting!
