One of the most romantic phrases in French and in all languages undoubtedly is I LOVE YOU… Just thinking about this three-word sentence makes me smile and distracts me. I am honestly the kind of person who is in love with love! My favorite TV-shows are about finding love, my favorite movies are romantic comedies, my favorite songs are love songs. I literally live in a romance play. To tell you the truth, I think I am the only one in my world to live in it.
⇝ One personal anecdote that perfectly illustrates it. A few years ago, on a cold day of October, I came back from work quite late. The night was already dark when I arrived in front of my house. Before reaching the front door, there is a big staircase (so that you can visualize it).
That day, I saw lighted candles on each side of each stair. I was so moved that my boyfriend did that for me, and I thought: tonight is the night when he will -finally- propo, with tears in my eyes, he came to me and asked me why I was crying. Of course, as I didn’t want to ruin the surprise nor his love speech, I didn’t say anything. Then he told me: “Look what I did outside, isn’t it nice for the children that will come and ask for candies on this Halloween night?” Can you imagine how disappointed/pathetic/angry/stupid I felt…!
Enough talking about me, let’s talk about romantic phrases in French so that you can surprise your girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/wife/neighbor/dog and smooth talk to them in French 🙂
